An elaborately carved axe head, of Scandinavian origin and depicting a complex knotwork dragon motif befitting an Anglo-Saxon war warrior. The reverse is engraved with "Hearthweru", Saxon for Hearth-Guard, by which the elite Household Warriors were known. A powerful viking symbol of strenth and courage.
